I've been really neglecting this blog.
My internship in NY ended the middle of August, and I've been back home in Michigan since. I was going to start grad school at the Savannah College of Art and Design this month, but decided to push off grad school for a bit. I've been doing some freelance work in Ann Arbor, and am looking for a job where I can practice design in an informed and meaningful way. I'm actually flying out to NY next week for an interview.
Oh, and I've also been updating my portfolio.

I've been interning for a little over a week now, and everything's been good. I'm always exhausted at the end of the day and am usually in bed before midnight. I didn't realize how draining this internship would be.
During my first week, the other graphic design intern and I worked on putting together lookbooks (books/catalogs that show all the new hats and hair accessories that the company is coming out with). This assignment was a bit boring, but we're basically done with it and have moved on to something more exciting: redesigning the company identity!
I think that the current company identity is dated and am really excited about this redesign. Everyone else seems really excited as well. The company is moving into a larger office next month, and it's the perfect time to redesign the company identity.
More to come!

I started my graphic design internship with a New York hatmaker earlier this week. So far so good! I'll try my best to update this blog more often during my internship.

We had a couple of tornado warnings here in Ann Arbor tonight. My housemates and I went down to our basement. The public safety officers on campus came to our co-op and recommended that we go down there.
For the past couple of weeks, I've been working on my portfolio, mostly reorganizing it and getting rid of older work.

What a windy day in Ann Arbor today. I will probably go to the public library to pick up a few DVDs and spend most of the day watching them.

Almost done with exams. I have been studying all weekend and have consumed nothing but junk food. I did have a pear. Or at least half of one.
The first day of Graduation Ticket Pick-up is tomorrow, and some of my housemates and I are going to try and get there early to beat the rush. Graduation is less than a week away.

Illustration for my last printmaking assignment, which is to create a print that falls into the theme "Monsters and Masks." I'm almost done with the printing. I just have to print the little girl's face.

A peek at my paper engineering project. The assignment is to create something wearable out of tyvek. My classmates and I will be showing off our creations at Festifools this Sunday.

Hello! I just returned from visiting New York for part of Spring Break and am pooped out. On Saturday, I flew out of Detroit into Philly, where missed my connection to New York. I was stranded at Philly International for 8 hours! It was horrible. And very boring.
I spent a few days in New York, staying with a friend near the Columbia University campus. On my second day there, my friend and I went to the Brooklyn Flea. The flea market's held in an old bank! If you go to the basement, the vault doors are still there. I didn't buy anything, though I did see three pairs of shoes that I wanted. But I just couldn't bring myself to buy worn shoes. You can wash a sweater or shirt...shoes, not so much.
I got my lunch at the Brooklyn Flea; in the Vault, there's an eating area set up. I got a grilled cheese sandwich (classic with a twist) from the Milk Truck table. I'm usually not a fan of grilled cheese, but I just had to try the Milk Truck grilled cheese since I've heard and read so much about it.
A couple of my housemates were in New York when I was there, and I met up with one of them a few times for lunch, dinner, and a show at the Metropolitan Opera. I fell asleep at the Met Opera.
I didn't bring my camera, so I don't have photos of my NY visit to share, but here is a photo from the Brooklyn Flea website.
